Korzen Health is collaborating with a healthcare network in Northern Arizona and seeking an Anesthesiologist to join our team at Verde Valley Medical Center.
About Us:
We're a team of 5 physician anesthesiologists and 6 CRNAs, and we work closely in a medical direction model. We're proud to be a physician-led department within a physician-led hospital system. This means we have a say in hospital decisions and actively contribute to hospital leadership and committees, creating a positive practice environment focused on top-notch patient care.
Types of Cases: We handle cases in 4-5 Main ORs, 1-2 endo suites, and a cath lab. We also run a low-volume OB service. Our focus is mainly on outpatient elective surgeries, including general surgery, GI, orthopedics, breast surgery, gynecology, and urology. We do some regional anesthesia but not pediatrics.
Work Details: This is a shift-based role, with 15 required shifts per month for a 1.0 FTE position after considering paid leave and CME. Shifts are typically 8-12 hours long, and we often finish early. You'll be scheduled for around 45 hours during working weeks, but you'll spend less than 35 hours in-house during those weeks. You'll enjoy approximately 14 weeks of vacation per year, and there are no seniority-based restrictions on vacation requests. Physicians handle scheduling, not administration.
Assignments/Call: On weekdays, three physicians work varying shifts. The shortest day shift usually ends before noon, and the longest lasts until 5 pm when the last OR finishes. The late physician covers call from home with a 30-minute response time after the last OR finishes. The call physician works after 5 pm about 50% of the time, often for placing labor epidurals. Call physicians don't have to stay in-house, even with running epidurals, and they get a post-call day off. We require 18 calls per quarter, averaging one call night per week and one call weekend per month.
Extra Work: You can take extra shifts, but it's not mandatory. Extra shifts pay your hourly rate multiplied by 12 hours, plus a $500 extra shift stipend. This adds up to a substantial monthly bonus, making the workload both sustainable and financially rewarding.
