Job Description

LHH is working with a quickly growing government contractor in the Fort Worth area that is adding a new Financial Analyst to their team. The Financial Analyst will play a key role in analyzing financial performance across a portfolio of government contracts and projects, ensuring accurate revenue and expense recognition. This position is essential for maintaining financial integrity, keeping the company in compliance with government contract requirements, internal policies, and GAAP. The Financial Analyst will collaborate with project managers, operations teams, and leadership to deliver financial insights, reporting, and actionable recommendations aimed at improving project profitability and operational efficiency.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Analyze the financial performance of individual contracts and projects, identifying trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
  • Investigate and resolve discrepancies in project financials in collaboration with project managers and finance leadership.
  • Prepare and post monthly accruals and adjustments related to contract activities to ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Ensure accurate allocation of labor, materials, subcontractor costs, and overhead to projects.
  • Record revenue recognition entries based on contract milestones, percent completion, or cost-to-cost methodologies, in accordance with GAAP and government accounting standards (CAS, FAR, DFARS).
  • Record and reconcile project expenses, ensuring proper assignment to cost codes, work breakdown structures (WBS), and general ledger accounts.
  • Collaborate with billing and accounts receivable teams to support accurate and timely invoicing based on project funding and contract modifications.
  • Produce and distribute financial reports on contracts and projects, offering insights on profitability, funding status, and overall financial health.
  • Support monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes by ensuring project financials are accurately recorded and reconciled.
  • Serve as a liaison between Accounting/Finance and Project Managers, Contracts Administration, and Operations Teams.
  • Partner with project teams to ensure financial data accurately reflects operational performance.
  • Provide training and support to project teams to help them understand financial reports, cost allocations, and budgetary impacts.

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline.
  • 3+ years of experience in accounting, project accounting, or financial analysis, ideally within a government contracting environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP, FAR, DFARS, and CAS regulations related to government contracts, and DCAA audit requirements and indirect cost rate structures.
  • Experience with cost accounting, job cost reporting, and revenue recognition methods such as cost-to-cost and percentage of completion.
  • Proficiency with ERP/accounting systems (e.g., Jamis Prime ERP, Deltek Costpoint, Unanet, Oracle, or SAP).
  • Advanced Excel skills, including pivot tables, VLOOKUP, financial modeling, and Power Query.
