**Job Summary and Responsibilities** **$15,000 sign-on Bonus offered for fully qualified new hires. Per policy, current employees are not eligible.** At the Family Birth Center at Methodist Hospital of Sacramento, we welcome 140-165 new babies each month in our modern 22-bed unit, featuring 10 Labor & Delivery rooms, 12 Postpartum rooms, plus Pre/Post-Op and OBED beds. The Labor & Delivery Nurse provides, coordinates, and directs care to individuals and families using a holistic approach. The nursing process is used as a structured mechanism for critical thinking and problem solving in providing effective and appropriate care within a safe and confidential environment from admission to discharge. Each RN is responsible for collaborating with members of the healthcare team, providing leadership, personal/professional development, and conducting him/herself professionally. **Responsibilities:** + Triage walk-ins to determine if a patient is in labor, water is broken, false alarm, etc + Support pregnant patients in labor, including induction, epidural assistance (if needed), general pain management and fetal monitoring + Assist and circulate in the operating room for cesarean sections, tubal ligation, cerclage and emergency procedures + Educate patients on various interventions or procedures - medications (name and purpose), exams, and labor stages + Assess newborn and provide care. + Communicate with the care management team, including anesthesiologist, physician or midwife, lactation nurse, charge nurse, postpartum unit, the patient, and the family **Job Requirements** **Minimum:** + One (1) year of labor and delivery experience as an RN required in an acute care setting. + Associate's Degree, Nursing (ADN) + Current California RN license + Current BLS certification required (American Heart Association) + Current ACLS and NRP certifications required within 3 months of hire (American Heart Association) + Basic AWHONN ( fetal monitoring is acceptable at hire, but must complete the Intermediate AWHONN ( course within 6 months of hire + AWHONN ( Intermediate or Advanced Fetal Monitoring course every two years thereafter or obtain NCC Fetal Monitoring Certification and maintain as specified **Preferred:** + One (1) year Labor and delivery C/Section/PACU, OBED, Postpartum/Newborn Nursery Unit experience **Where You'll Work** Built-in 1973, Dignity Health Methodist Hospital of Sacramento is committed to providing daily excellence in health care for residents of Sacramento's southern suburbs, including the Elk Grove, Wilton, and Galt communities.
