Live-In Details: Own bedroom
Days: Mon - Fri
Hours: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM
Compensation: $30 to $35 per Hour
A Glen Head, NY family is looking for a nanny/housekeeper with special needs experience to help care for their two children, ages 5 and 8 . The role involves managing daily routines, supporting therapy goals, planning educational and creative activities, assisting with schoolwork, and preparing healthy meals for the family. The ideal candidate is adaptable, child-focused, and experienced with physical limitations. Light housekeeping and safe transportation are also part of the responsibilities.
Main Work Duties:
- Primary responsibility includes all tasks related to the children’s care.
- Create a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment in which our children can thrive and develop including but not limited to:
- Planning and engage in educational activities, crafts, creative play and outdoor activities.
- Assisting with homework and school projects.
- Organize occasional playdates and outings for social development.
- Work with children to achieve agreed goals through positive reinforcement (eg. finding ways to encourage 8 year old to read more and take on more responsibility such as packing her backpack every night for the following day).
- Monitor and provide continuity / carryover with younger child’s therapy including OT, PT and speech.
- Daily Routine Management: Help in maintaining a daily routine for getting kids ready for school, meals, bathing (and keeping nails trimmed and clean), homework, playtime, and bedtime.
- Cooking: Plan weekly menu of healthy breakfasts, lunches, snacks for kids and dinner for family (including parents) and prepare meals daily.
- Transportation: Safely transport children to appointments and extracurricular activities.
- Health and Safety: Monitor the health of the children and attend to any medical needs (eg. give older child an inhaler as needed in consultation with parents).
- Communicate regularly with parents about daily activities, behaviors, and related matters.
Required Qualities:
- Adaptable.
- Child oriented.
- Special needs experience with physical limitations.
Requirements:
- At least 3 years of nanny and housekeeping experience in a private home.
- MUST have special needs experience.
- Excellent references from both current and previous employers.
- Ability to work independently.
- Must speak and be able to communicate well in English.
- Authorized to work in the United States for any employer.
- Valid Driver's license and clean driving record.
