This PSA Engineer DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) role will involve supporting, enhancing, and maintaining Dispatcher Training Simulator environments within Energy Management Systems. The ideal PSA Engineer DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) will have strong hands-on experience with power system applications, EMS platforms, and real-time simulation environments. This PSA Engineer DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) position requires deep technical expertise in transmission modeling, DTS validation, and live system support. Job Title: PSA Engineer DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) Location: Seattle, WA (Remote 100%, with travel as needed) Duration: 12 Months Job Description:The PSA Engineer DTS (Dispatcher Training Simulator) is responsible for administering, optimizing, and supporting Dispatcher Training Simulator environments used for training grid operators in electric transmission systems. This role focuses on EMS application configuration, model validation, defect resolution, and deployment of fixes in live environments. The position supports mission-critical systems and requires close collaboration with technical teams to ensure system accuracy, reliability, and performance.
The role involves working across EMS, DTS, SCADA, and power system applications, supporting both simulation and production environments. Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and system-integration skills are essential for success in this role.
Key Responsibilities:DTS & EMS Support (5+ years experience):
Administer and support Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) environments
Perform model validation, event creation, and defect fixing for DTS systems
Configure and tune EMS applications to ensure simulation accuracy
Power System Applications (5+ years experience):
Support power system applications including Power Flow, State Estimator, Contingency Analysis, Load Forecasting, and AGC
Work with electrical transmission models and simulation data
Validate system models and simulation behavior
System Maintenance & Fix Deployment (5+ years experience):
Perform corrective actions to restore failed or degraded EMS services
Install fixes, patches, and enhancements on live customer systems
Conduct code reviews, deployment, testing, and monitoring activities
Operating Systems & Automation (5+ years experience):
Work with Linux and Windows operating systems
Utilize SQL, shell scripting, and basic programming for troubleshooting and configuration
Read and interpret system logs and debug files
Collaboration & Communication (3+ years experience):
Participate in technical discussions and system reviews
Communicate clearly with stakeholders and technical teams
Contribute to documentation and continuous improvement initiatives
Experience:
5 8 years of overall experience in EMS, DTS, or power system application environments
Technical Skills:
Strong experience with Dispatcher Training Simulator (DTS) for EMS
Experience with EMS platforms such as PowerOn Reliance (XA21) or equivalent solutions
Hands-on experience with SCADA protocols and data modeling (ICCP, IEC, DNP3, Modbus, XML/JSON)
Proficiency in Linux and Windows environments
Experience with Oracle, SQL Server, and relational databases
Programming or scripting experience with C, C++, PERL, SQL, or shell scripting
Education:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering or equivalent
Specialization in Power Systems preferred
