Job Description

The Sanitation is responsible for maintaining a clean working environment for the entire facility at all times.

Essential Functions

1. Sweeps, dusts, mops, scrubs, washes, vacuums, waxes, and polishes building floors, woodwork, walls, windows, furniture, some equipment and hardware
2. Cleans and sanitizes all restroom areas, locker rooms, hallways and the breakroom; keeps restrooms supplied with paper towels, toilet paper, and soap
3. Collects and disposes of trash and garbage; moves equipment and furniture such as tables and chairs when necessary.  Inspects various areas within the facility for cleanliness and identifies the need for more frequent or non-routine cleaning.
4. Performs sanitary inspections in designated areas for purposes of infection control
5. Orders and distributes custodial supplies; maintains inventory
6. Observes and reports safety hazards/violations, and the need for maintenance attention
7. Establishes housekeeping standards; assists with policy planning when necessary
8. Communicates with others both verbally and in writing

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to satisfactorily perform each essential duty.  The requirements listed below are representative of these knowledge, skills, and/or abilities.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

1. Knowledge of proper cleaning and sanitizing procedures is required
2. Knowledge of cleaning products used in the facility as well as knowledge of chemical product safety is required for MSDS purposes
3. The ability to follow oral and written instructions is required
4. Understanding and following proper procedures for disposing waste is required
5. Basic knowledge of vacuum cleaners and various other custodial equipment is necessary
