The Music Conservatory at the University of Evansville in Evansville, Indiana invites applications for the position of Director of Bands and Low Brass. This is a full-time, 10-month tenure track position at the rank of Assistant Professor. Candidate must possess a doctorate (ABD may be considered.) University teaching experience is desired. Candidate is expected to possess comprehensive knowledge as it relates to band repertoire, conducting, and applied music. Primary duties include conducting the Wind Ensemble, University Band, and Aces Brass; coordinating the brass area for the Music Conservatory; and teaching applied lessons (low brass). Vigorous recruitment, especially of brass majors, is expected. Additional teaching will be assigned based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and departmental needs. Academic advising and service are expected. The Music Conservatory typically has 65 undergraduate music majors and significant non-major student involvement in all ensembles. Degree programs include Music Education, Music Therapy, Music Management, Performance, and General Studies (Bachelor of Science). Instruction on every orchestral instrument, voice, keyboard, and guitar is provided by 11 full-time/consortium faculty and 14 part-time instructors.
