Carney, Sandoe & Associates, an education recruitment firm, is currently seeking an Elementary and Middle School Spanish Teacher for the 2025-2026 academic year at a private and independent school in New Orleans, LA.

Spanish Teacher Responsibilities:

• Developing lesson plans and curricula based on the needs of individual students.
• Teach several sections of Spanish courses for Elementary or Middle School students.
• Providing conversational classes where pronunciation and important words and phrases are taught.
• Conducting research on teaching methods, materials, and language games that can be used in class.
• Monitoring student's progress by writing up reports and grading assessments.
• Organizing feedback sessions with students and their parents if applicable.
• Providing suggestions for further learning and scheduling intervention sessions with struggling students.
• Teaching students about Spanish culture, which may include festivals, traditional food, and dress, and social conventions.
• Organizing fun events where students can showcase their Spanish language skills.

Spanish Teacher Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Spanish, Latin American studies, or related required.
• Near native fluency in Spanish required.
• Previous teaching experience required.
• Willingness to work with Elementary or Middle School students.
• No teaching license or credential is required.
• Well-organized and able to handle multiple responsibilities.
• Detail-oriented and resilient.

Additional Desired Qualities:

• A desire to be involved in extra-curricular activities as well as the broader school community.
• Willingness to work with lower or middle school students.
• Knowledge of ACTFL standards preferred.
